Fine Idea Farm is a new (est. 2015) full-care sporthorse boarding and training facility in Mt. Airy, Md., owned and operated by FEI rider Abby Gibbon. Centrally located 45 minutes from Baltimore, Md., and Washington, D.C., our 56+ acres are home to 19 stalls, an 80×160 indoor arena, spring-fed pond and plenty of gently rolling fields for turnout and hacking. We train horses and riders to compete in eventing, dressage, hunter/jumpers and pony club, and provide 24-hour care in a fun, supportive environment.

The Howard County-Iron Bridge Hounds Hunt Club and Patuxent River State Park (featuring an extensive trail system) are both within hacking distance, and we’re less than a mile from the Damascus Equine veterinary practice. Several USEA, USDF and USHJA shows are within an hour’s drive. From the Mt. Airy exit off Route 70, it takes about 5 minutes to reach our driveway.

Although we’ve only been in business for about a year, we’ve already done considerable work upgrading and restoring the farm’s original outbuildings (historic research in progress!). A cross-country schooling course is just one of several future upgrades in the works, with the goal of making Fine Idea the most beautiful, enjoyable, user-friendly place to train and spend time with horses ever. Our active, social group of boarders enjoys training, competing, and just hanging out at the farm together.
